The new Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) offers passengers a unique travel experience with its Integrated Environmental Media System (IEMS), a series of seven digital media features integrated into the interior architecture. Electrosonic was tasked by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) with the engineering and system integration of the IEMS components, and the build out of the IEMS control room.

The UK’s Bristol Water is responsible for the water supply in the Bristol area for nearly 1.2 million people, covering a 926 square-mile region. After working in a cluttered workspace with a system developed piecemeal over the last two decades, Bristol Water decided to completely upgrade its operational control room with a new display system that helps provide improved monitoring and more efficient working conditions.

LKAB Visitor Centre

LKAB (Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag) is the world’s technical leader in supplying iron ore pellets, acquired from underground mining, to the global steel industry. The company’s new research centre in Koskullskulle, Sweden, features a visitor centre that welcomes guests to the Malmberget mine. Electrosonic was tasked by LKAB consultant WSP with designing and engineering the audio-visual facilities at the visitor centre, including its showpiece video wall comprised of 192 video tiles.

Caltrans District 7

Los Angeles, CA

Caltrans District 7 called upon Electrosonic to upgrade the audio-visual system at its Los Angeles facility with a new videowall that takes advantage of the latest in projection technology. Used for traffic monitoring, the videowall comprises a 12-screen center unit in a 4x3 configuration flanked by a pair of 6-screen 3x2 units. The giant wall features 80-inch diagonal screens in the center and 52-inch screens on the sides.

Santa Barbara County Emergency Operations Center

The County of Santa Barbara’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) helps the county maintain a state of readiness to manage emergencies swiftly and effectively. Before its construction, the county operated without a dedicated facility, resulting in several hours of setup before operations were functional. Now, the new EOC features extensive audio, video and data support provided by Electrosonic to facilitate the sharing of information from various internal and external sources, such as news media, incident maps, live video streams and operational reports.

The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel upgraded the primary studio set at its Atlanta headquarters with a new video wall provided by Electrosonic. The new system features 12 LED-illuminated, rear-projection display cubes to be used as a backdrop for on-air talent, and a vehicle for live video and map presentations.

The Hindhead Tunnels

The A3 road in the south of England serves to connect London to Portsmouth, and has been historically significant for linking England’s capital city with one of its major sea ports. By 2000, most of the A3 had been rebuilt as a dual carriageway to accommodate increased traffic flow, but the Hindhead section of the road remained a single carriageway that climbed around the side of the Devil’s Punchbowl, a site of special scientific interest. As a result, the A3 section stretching through the Hindhead area would operate at or above capacity and cause severe congestion, resulting in an accident rate of about 40 percent above the national average.

Chesapeake Energy of Oklahoma City, OK is the largest independent producer of natural gas in the United States. A central control room monitors pipeline and distribution activities, and monitors events that may affect demand. Electrosonic furnished the complete display system, including a VN-Quantum processor used to allow complete flexibility in the positioning and sizing of images. Electrosonic VN Glimpse adaptors are used to allow the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) images to arrive over conventional Ethernet. The overview display system allows both real-time video images and SCADA status display images to be shown.

Trafik Stockholm

Stockholm, Sweden

Trafik Stockholm (a joint venture between the City of Stockholm and the Swedish Road Administration, Vägverket) is responsible for traffic management on Stockholm City streets and on the state roads in Stockholm County and Gotland. Cameras, sensors and information systems that can be used to manage traffic have been set up along the major highways and in tunnels.
